Just wanted to put out some obscenely shocking news that The Walt Disney Company has bought out Marvel Entertainment Inc. as of this morning for an approximated $4 billion. This just blindsided me while browsing the trades. Read the complete official press release here and share you views. Where do both companies go from here? Marvel brings with it nearly 5,000 character names and their stories. Disney is more than capable of financing a film, if not two, a year with their fiscal $38 billion turnouts. This could definitely be a huge step up for Marvel comic films and we may get to see films for characters finally that we thought previously out of the question. Ant-Man? But this could also be somewhat troublesome. Do fans of the comics really want their cherished stories made and marketed to the same audience of the FANTASTIC 4 films? I know I don’t. I tend to be optimistic and see this as a great success for Marvel and what this could mean for their properties and wish both Marvel and Disney the best and anxiously await what good/bad films news will now come from their direction.
“I think I’ve made a huge mistake.”
