First off, if you haven’t seen the 2006 film CHARLIE BARTLETT, I strongly suggest you do. I think Anton Yelchin puts on one of the best performances from an actor his age. Alright, YOUTH IN REVOLT. The reason I brought up BARTLETT was that the writer Gustin Nash also penned the screenplay adaptation for YOUTH. Michael Cera plays Nick in this film who meets “the one” while on a family vacation and decides to invent a dual personality to help him win her. What’s been grinding my gears is that I’ve tried finding this novel by C.D. Payne in libraries up and down the west coast of Florida without luck since 2006. The trailer does make it seem like a younger version of a ME, MYSELF, & IRENE down to the car off the cliff but I think it has potential with director Miguel Arteta who has made his rounds directing episodes of THE OFFICE, SIX FEET UNDER and even FREAK AND GEEKS.
